No more golf toe shots
If you’re not making solid contact with most of your golf irons there’s a good chance you’re struggling with your game.
Next to putting your irons make up a large portion of your overall score.
Most golfers who don’t hit the centre of the club face miss it closer to the toe. These are usually weak shots without much power and invariably end up short of the target and in trouble.
It's easy to use and suitable for golfers of all levels and will eliminate your golf toe hits.
I'll go through some other ways to fix your golf toe shots and I’m going to go through two of them here today.
First simple fix for your golf toe hits
Chuck Cook, Golf Magazine top 100 teaches gives a great tip to help fix your golf toe shots.
On my previous post about the proper golf swing takeaway I emphasized the importance of taking the golf club back square and not on the inside.
The key here is that the club head needs to be facing the golf ball on the way back. It shouldn’t be opening and then closing too much during the complete golf swing.
When you do this right the club head should be approaching the golf ball with the full face.
Remember to hinge your wrists up first at the start of the backswing and not down and around.
This ensures the clubface goes back square and puts your golf swing in a better position to make solid contact.
Start off by practicing this at the golf driving range doing half swings and you should start to see your golf toe shots slowly disappear.
Gradually work your way up to a full swing and the majority of your iron shots should be coming out of the middle of the clubface.
Second solution to fix your golf toe hits
Here's another simple way you can fix your golf toe hits and find the centre of the clubface more often.
It all starts with how you set up to the golf ball.
Have a look at the image below.
Try setting up with the ball closer to the hosel instead of right in the middle of the clubface.
Many top professional golfers do this and have had successful careers such as 3-time major winner Vijay Singh.
Why this method works
Because the golf swing is constantly moving your body opens up more at impact than it was at your address position.
What this does is it reduces the distance from the left shoulder to the golf ball.
This will often result in golf toe shots when setting up off the centre of the clubface.
If you're a golfer that sets up with the ball off the centre of the clubface and you're hitting a lot of golf toe shots then this method may work for you.
Focus on achieving a perfect impact position and your toe shots will disappear and your golf scores will improve dramatically.
